Last April I got fed up with Norton System Works and switched to Zone Alarm. That was like going from the frying pan to the fire! Zone Alarm acted more like a virus than a virus and allowed trojans to attack, then come to the rescue by deleting them after telling me about it. It reminded me of a cat and mouse game (where the cat and the mouse are friends).
Zone Alarm shut down my Windows Security Center, firewall and the like. After uninstalling ZA yesterday, I still have no Windows Security Center. I have the firewall up again, however.
I have searched the MS website, but keep getting "linked" around the proverbial "department store runaround" until I am frustrated.
Would anyone have any clue as to HOW to turn the Windows Security Center back on? I have SP2 installed on my computer for XP Pro.
BTW - I have now installed "Shield Deluxe 2007" for anti virus/anti spyware.

Thanks in advance for any help
Security Centre is in Control Panel. You access the settings from there. If I understand correctly what you are asking.
I know where to find the security center and that is how I know it is not working.
I went to the control panel and I have the firewall, but I do not have the other features of the center.
The following is what I see for my security service center dialogue box:
"The Security Center is unavailable because the "Security Center" service has not started or was stopped. Please close this window, restart the computer (or start the "Security Center" service), and then open "Security Center" again."
I know I had it when I had Norton installed because it would tell me when things were okay, download updates and the like. While having ZoneAlarm installed, which was only five months, I do not recall any time when the computer would download updates when I logged off. The firewall was automatically disabled via ZA and the security center was turned off. ZA has a great free firewall, but when I went "Pro" everything got really nuttty in my computer. Maybe if I had the time and patience of a computer guru, I would have liked it better. But the program I have now has GREAT, FANTASTIC and FREEEEEEEEEEEEE SUPPPPPPPORT!!!! and is top rated. So I bought it, installed it, and now I like my computer again and it seems to like me.
But, I am hoping I won't have to uninstall SP2 and re-download it again. With my old computer.....well....it may have a hardrive attack. I have a feeling that the only way to get the SCS back up is to delete SP2 and....oh...what a headache.
Anyone got any ideas?
