hello undergroundsecrets,

I have HP Pavilion as well. I have used the built in system recovery several times.

When I turn on the computer, I repeatedly hit the F10 button before bootup completes. It takes me into the techie's partition of the Hardrive. I follow the steps and do a system "destructive recovery" which wipes it all clean and puts the "user's" partition copy back as if I bought it yesterday.

My computer was purchased in January 2002, so it is not a new fangled computer. I perform the recovery less and less because it is an older computer now and takes forever to download all the updates and reinstalls.

But, when I get frustrated with the whole mess, I do it again!

Does your HP have the recovery feature built into the Hardrive? My son is my computer guru and he deletes his computer down to nothing, ziltch, nodda, empty.....he has to begin with installing the OS and work his way up. He brags he can do it in hours. I think he is just showing off. Laughing

ps...my OS is XP

pps....I followed the instructions on the HP website the first time I completed the destructive recovery. The site is very helpful if you can find the right page to be on. good luck
