I'll be heading into Lake Washington for my first ever triathlon. Today was packet pick-up and bike racking. I'm #1800 and there are 645 women in my age bracket.
I'm boiling water right now for a big helping of pasta. Wish me luck, I'm a little nervous.(bites nails)
Good luck marty. (Eat more pasta, less nails.)
You go girl! When you get to the finish line, I'll be waiting for you there with a pack of cigarettes, a bottle of bourbon (open and half-drunk, of course) and a box of donuts.

But how will you know which one is me? And you'll probably be seeing two of everyone after all that bourbon.
I just picked up a pack of Shot Blocks, they have a new flavor, margarita with salt. I'll have a few of those in transition.
Cheering for you marty.
Go marty! Go marty!
Thanks,
I'll be going to bed soon.
You go girl!!!!

We'll be watching for number 1800.
Be sure to wear it on your chest or Kicky will miss it.
GO! MARTY!!!
Right on!
You know that cliff bars make smaller 'biking' bars that are also high in carbs, and physically heavy to help you feel full when you are running and biking.. ?
go girl go..!
Good luck. And don't forget your water polo tactics on the swim.
Marty--
Good luck both in the physical race and the accomplishing of a New You.
Hold your dominion.
I thought I posted Go, #1800!!! but I see it's not here.
Weeks from now you'll probably run across the exhortation on some other thread...
Anyway, keep trying at the triathalon!!!
WooHoooooo! I made it. I was told the swim would be the hardest. Boy were those people right. We had a great stretch of weather last week, and wouldn't you know it, it started raining last night. I was nervous at the start and when my heat(of 100) stepped into the water it was damn cold. Then about 3 strokes into my swim I swallowed a huge mouthful of lake water. This coupled with my nerves and the water temp freaked me out. I think I was one of the last 10 out of the water from my heat.
The bike was pretty good and the run really wasn't that bad.
Haven't decided if I'll do it again though, maybe with more open water training.
I'm off to the hot tub. Thanks for the encouragement guys, Thanks
Marty--
Just finishing is worthy of self-satisfaction.
The Danskin Women's Tri raised awareness and funds for Breast Cancer. Proceeds from registration goes toward this as well as some women who collect donations. There is a group of cancer survivors who also participate. What was truely uplifting was seeing a few blind women racing with a sighted guide. These women and all the cancer survivors were the most amazing athletes. It was an honor to finish this race with over 5,000 women.
Well done marty barker.
Need i say engage brain before opening mouth.
What an admirable accomplishment, Marty!
Take a glass of wine with you to the hot tub and pretend you can see me raising mine to you..
