Writing A Script Treatment...?

I originally posted this question over in the Cinescape.com & AintItCool.com forums, as they hold a script writing contest, you think because of that that someone would have an answer, so I am posting my question now to the Able2Know forums, to see if anyone has the answer:

"Where can I find information on writing a script treatment with detailed examples...if that is the right thing I need. The reason I am asking this is I've come up with a good idea for a movie -- well in my opinion anyway -- and would like to pitch it to some studios; instead of a script treatment, would it be a pitch I'd need to write. Tell me the difference and information for both questions."

Here's some PC software -- that may be the best route if you're not near a city that would have scripwriting seminars and/or classes:

I know about Final Draft Pro, can't afford it...although there are other ways to get it. Twisted Evil

I do live in the city, I don't have the money to go take a course. Sad

mlauzon, I used "script treatment vs. pitch difference" and came up with lots and lots of pertinent info.

You're unlikely to have any site divulge too much information about that particular kind of subject without ending up asking you to purchase something!

(They've gotten very wise in Cyberspace the past few years about giving anything away free).

Funny thing
The thing was, I was looking for the same thing. I put "treatment" in a search engine and your question popped up as a link. Following it, I found someone just as interested. I was looking for the information because I needed to write a treatment for my book. A film company needed a treatment and a synopsis to consider it for filming. When I finally found a site to educate me on a treatment, I remembered you having asked that same question. I had to come back to this site and register just to give you an answer. I sure hope it was helpful because after thinking about it, it was a total waste of time if I didn't even help you out. I'm just kidding, I actually like this site and I have your question to thank for helping me find it.
