I'm debating Maliagar in my Homosexuality and Religion thread -- and whenever I have to cite a particular passage of his, I have to look through the thread to find it.
What an ordeal.
There are 60 pages to the thread -- and you have to go back one page at a time.
Even if I know a particular quote is on page 25 -- getting there involves calling up page after page -- moving forward from page 1 or backwards from page 60.
Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to scan postings?
If not, can anything be done to make it easier?
For one thing, Frank, use the search function. It is first rate. If you recall a specific word or phrase or word, use that as "keyword". There is a separate block for the member's name.
In the thread URL you will see this "&start=10"
The 10 represents the tenth post. So it's the second page.
Just change that number to teh post you want to jump to in the thread.
I will not be changing the pagination display for some time. We have already gone over 2,000 pages in a thread and when dealing with that kind of number it is hard to make a reasonable pagination method.
Just as an aside, you can cut down on the number of pages to scroll through by going to your profile screen and changing the number of messages per page for it to display. For my tastes, I use the 50 posts per page and have not had any troubles with it.
Thank you Roger and Craven. I just used the search function (still haven't figured out how to do the URL thing) and it worked like a charm. I got right to where I wanted to be.
Thanks Butrflynet, I'll take a look and raise mine to 50 also.
