CPU usage at 100%

For a while now, my laptop has been running at a constant 100% CPU usage. The process that is taking up an average of 98% if it is called lfjgaf.exe and when I end the task it drops the CPU usage to normal rates. Unfortunately after rebooting it comes back. And after I end it and get online, I get hit with 2-3 popups everytime I change webpages which doesn't happen when it is running...?

I have tried doing a search for the program online but with no luck finding information on it, or how to get rid of its CPU consuption. Please, can anyone help me fix it?

Are you positive you have spelled it correctly, do you have good antivirus and malware apps, have you run complete checks using them?

I had avast 4, superanitspyware, spy doctor and spyware blaster. I scanned it before startup, after startup and in safe mode. Killed around 600 malwares, adwares, trojans, worms, viruses, and spywares...

And yes it is spelled right...it likes to be on the top of the task list now. It used to at the bottom, but now it is just mocking me. And if I have the computer idle for longer than 20 minutes, it is now rebooting itself. But only when I end that program.

The only thing it is doing is slowing up the computer and draining its power, but without it there I get hit with popups for random stuff like weather and news, ebay, or even google and it restarts randomly when not being touched after awhile. sigh...

You must try Sptbot, it might find it.

I suspect it can rename itself, there are some mal-ware apps that can do this. It is possible that once it has embedded itself it may be quite tough to remove, have you considered backing up critical data and doing a fresh install? Are you networked with any other computers?

There is an application that defines / categories / lists all items and potential mal-ware. I cannot remember the name of it now.

I'm assuming you meant Spybot, so yeah I will surely give that a try. It's not networked, but unfortunately I don't have any OS disks for it. Thanks by the way for the help

I downloaded Spybot, but although it got rid of a few more adware and spyware programs, the original problem is still there dragging down my CPU usage...

Anything else to recommend?
