According to the World Health Organization, some 56 Million deaths occur per year, at the current global average. That works out to about 153,400 per day, or a little more than 100 per minute. For every death, there are a little over 2.25 births, or a something just over 350,000 per day.

Also, again according to the WHO, the ratio of female births to male births is 1.06-to-1 overall. More than 90% of net global population growth is occurring in "Less than Developed Countries", with India and Nigeria leading the percentage parade. Asia's contribution to global population growth is approximately 25% greater than that of the combined total of the Western Developed Nations.

Interesting ... those statistics, from 2 different sources, match pretty well - might be something to them Laughing

I read somewhere, can't remember where...

Of all the people who have ever been alive on the earth, 10% of them are now dead.

I also read another fact, 100% of the people who ate liver and onions in 1801 are now dead.

Lord knows they don't match anywhere else. You can find stats to support almost anything you want and throw out the reason and logic.

@Justthefax,
Contrasting with 10% of those who ever lived in the world are now dead, some facts from Historian Niall Ferguson, from a talk he gave in June or July 2011, in a video on cnn.com:

An estimated 106 billion people ever lived on Earth.
94% of them are dead. ~60% lived in Asia. Most were or are poor.
