@Barry The Mod,
Wow! Don't know Mose Allison, but I love that blues, Brit. It seems that he influenced a lot of musicians. I didn't know that The Rat Pack did Ocean's Eleven. Thanks for that info, buddy.

Well, y'all, we've heard Stevie Wonder, and today is Wonder Woman's birthday.

Here's a tribute to that gal.

Mose is pretty great.
The rat pack is, too.
That's a nice song to put on the Lynda Carter tribute.
Last night I watched Paul McCartney on the David Letterman show. For those who don't know - and I certainly did not - Letterman broadcasts from the Ed Sullivan building, where The Ed Sullivan Show originated from. Paul reminisced over the Beatles first performance in America on that set, then sang out on the canopy overlooking the sidewalk. The show may have been a repeat. I don't know.

@edgarblythe,
I didn't know that about Ed Sullivan either, edgar. Had no idea that You Say Yes; I Say No was their first performance in America. Thanks for the Fab Four's presentation, buddy.

Well, we all know that The Beatles did Yesterday, but here's a jazz version called Yesterdays By Clifford Brown, too. Wow! What a fabulous trumpet player Clifford was. He died too young. He also does Memories of You on this one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGPMew3Jv5E

Here are the lyrics to Yesterdays, folks.

Yesterdays
Yesterdays
Days I knew as happy sweet
Sequestered days
Olden days
Golden days
Days of mad romance and love
Then gay youth was mine
And truth was mine
Joyous free and flaming life
Forsooth was mine
Sad am I
Glad am I
For today I'm dreaming of those
yesterdays
Then gay youth was mine
The truth was mine
Sad am I
Glad am I
For today I'm dreaming
Of yesterdays

Clifford Brown makes some good sounds.
When he heard this song, Frank Sinatra pronounced it the greatest song of the past 30 years. He was likely exaggerating.

Wow! I like Something and am a wee bit surprised that Old Blue Eyes said that as well (wonder if his tongue was in his cheek)

Hey, Brit. Never heard Petula do Foggy Day. Maybe "the chairman of the board" cheered that one as well. Smile

Now Marvin and Tammi was more my speed; loved that one, buddy.

Love his version of Sunny.

I tried to find a decent video of Amelia Earhart with no luck. She's another of the history mystery aviators who were "lost in space".

Here's a hero of a different sort, y'all.

Happy birthday, Simon

Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios, commonly known as Simón Bolívar ( July 24, 1783 – December 17, 1830) was a Venezuelan military and political leader. Together with José de San Martín, he played a key role in Latin America's successful struggle for independence from the Spanish Empire.

Following the triumph over the Spanish Monarchy, Bolívar participated in the foundation of the first union of independent nations in Latin America, which was named Gran Colombia, and of which he was president from 1819 to 1830.

Simón Bolívar is regarded in Latin America as a hero, visionary, revolutionary, and liberator. During his short life, he led Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela to independence, and helped lay the foundations for democratic ideology in much of Hispanic America.

Some sad news....
Singer Al Jarreau changes hospitals in France.
A helicopter ferried Grammy-award winning singer Al Jarreau from a hospital in the Alps to one in the French port of Marseille after he suffered breathing problems in the mountains that forced him to cancel several concerts, hospital authorities said Saturday.

Jarreau was conscious, in stable condition and in the cardiology unit of La Timone hospital in Marseille, the Marseille Hospital Authority said. He was expected to remain there for about a week for tests.

Jarreau's website said the singer had asked to be taken to the hospital Friday after he had trouble adjusting to the Alpine mountain altitude. He had experienced breathing problems and was for a time in intensive care.

Thursday's concert at a jazz festival in the French mountain town of Barcelonnette, in the southern Alps was canceled in the middle of the 70-year-old's warmup routine.

Fatigue as well as the altitude may have played a role in Jarreau's health problems. The singer is on a lengthy overseas tour to Europe and Japan.

Jarreau, who started out in jazz before crossing over into pop and R&B, canceled two shows in Germany and another in Azerbaijan in addition to the one in France. It was not immediately clear when Jarreau would sing again.

Jarreau is one of the few artists to have won Grammys in three separate categories -- jazz, pop and R&B -- like Michael Jackson.

@Barry The Mod,
Wow! That is bad news, Brit. I have had problems with that type thing when I leave here and go to Virginia. That is why Peruvian natives have adapted to their environment by becoming barrel chested.

I heard enough of Al Jarreau's Take Five to smile. Let's hope he recovers, buddy.

I never think of Dave Brubeck that I don't think of Paul Desmond.

I particularly like Petula Clark. Al and Marviun songs are good ones too.

Bolivar - Didn't I read that some wished to call America Bolivia?

@edgarblythe,
Wow! El Matador is fantastic, edgar. Love the minor key. I don't know it either, but I'm certainly glad you played it.

Don't know about North America being called Bolivia. For years, school kids thought that Columbus was the one who discovered America. History can be misleading.

You inspired me to play this one, Texas.

I already knew the song El Matador by the Kingston Trio. I just thought it nice to hear another good version. The Herb Alpert song is one I really like also. Here is another by Herb

Cap'n Dutchy's wearing an eye-patch as a result of some treatment he's needed.

Made me think of

which

of course

made me think of Seu Jorge's music for The Life Aquatic

@ehBeth,
Beth, Welcome back. We've missed you here, gal

That's a easy listening song, gal. Don't know Seu Jorge, but I sure like his guitar.

I played Dr. Hook for Dutchy. He's had a lot of trouble lately.

Well, time for me to say goodnight.

Here's a fantastic Hispanic song that I've never heard by a wonderful vocalist. I also found the English lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqm8l0ROOyA&feature=related

Clock, don't mark the hours
Because I'm going to become crazy
She will leave for forever
When its dawn again

We only have this night
To live our love
And this tick tock reminds me of
My non-healing pain

Clock, stop your course
Because my life will turn off
She is the star that illuminates my soul
Without her love, I am nothing

Stop the time in your hands
Make this night perpetual
So it will never go away from me
So it will never be dawn

Clock, stop your course
Because my life will turn off
She is the star that illuminates my soul
Without her love, I am nothing

Stop the time in your hands
Make this night perpetual
So it will never go away from me
So it will never be dawn

Goodnight world,

From Letty with love
