It's because everyone in this damn country is enamoured with the idea that guns are objects of sentient evil that spontaneously shoot themselves at will.... ok, end rant.

As a Mechanic of sorts for some fifty years I also have noticed that wrenches, scanners, and tire machines are not magical. They all were designed by somone to fill a percieved human need. I regard guns in the same way. If people didn't want, need, or buy the tools nobody would make them.

Guns are merely a tool for keeping the peace, no more evil than the 1/2" ratchet wrench, (a tool for tightening certain specialized fasteners called nuts and bolts) which our society depends on.

Personally, I suspect that more innocent persons have been killed, injured, or seriously inconvienienced by the inappropriate use of wrenches than were ever inconvienienced by the use of a weapon in civilian hands.

Ban all wrenches Very Happy Very Happy

average starting salary for airline pilots ranged from about $13,000 a year at the smaller turboprop airlines to as high as $200,000 a year for some senior captains on the largest aircraft

from the US Dept of Transportation careers page, not very up to date tho.

Quote:
Entry-level pilots, according to the association [Air Line Pilots Association], start at approximately $28,000 per year; and after ten years of experience, a pilot might see six figures. Federal law requires pilots to retire at age 60.
