Last night I watched the movie, Fifteen Minutes with DeNiro. I have come to one conclusion, and that is the fact that some movies are in no way different from real life.

When Gus posted a political commentary by Doctorow, I thought of his book Ragtime and especially, The Girl on the Red Velvet Swing.

In reviewing the Stanford-White murder case of the Gilded Age in American history, I found an odd parallel.

Movie buffs will have no trouble locating an overview of Fifteen Minutes, so I won't bother with that. I am interested in your thoughts.

I know I saw "15 Minutes" when it was released to theaters but you know, I don't remember it. Looks like one for my rental list as Ebert and other critics did give positive reviews:

So I'd have to see it again to make any comments.

Mr. Wizard, the entire idea of the movie involved two men from Russia who killed people and then videoed it because they understood the tenor of Americans.

First, the idea was to tape the murders, then use the insanity plea.

Second, To benefit from these heinous crimes through giving their exclusive to a TV person (Kelsey Grammer) who would make them famous and make it pay. One does not really need to see the movie to get the psychology of the similarity between the Stanford White case (the converse) and the fifteen minutes of fame.

Nothing has changed much in the fourth estate and the crooks that sell books.

I'll check out your link later, my friend.
