Need help identifying artist and / or work

We bought this piece from an estate sale and are in the process of having it reframed (the old frame was damaged and worn). We love the work and whether we can identify the artist is irrelevant to us keeping it, but would still love to know who did this.

Not much in the way of markings on the back. Here are pictures of the whole painting (once we got the frame removed) and a closeup of the artist signing.

@eljaywilson,

Were you able to speak with the people holding the estate sale, or perhaps get a message/question to them via the agency conducting the sale? Sometimes it can help, even if someone says something like, "My grandmother had it for as long as I can remember," and that person is 50, then you know it was purchased at least around 45 years ago or so.
