Promoting own reserch findings

I wonder what is wrong, from ethical point of view, in using marketing techniques for promoting own research findings. My teacher said that it is wrong because we can fake them to obtain bigger profits. But i think it is not complete answer . Any ideas ?

It's up to the consumer. That's the reason many products sold today does
not meet any standard.
