Has anyone seen "Fruitvale Station"?

I'm thinking of taking my 12 year old son to see it but it seems pretty intense.

He goes to a school that has an emphasis on social justice and they talk about these types of events regularly. We also discuss this kind of thing at home quite often. I've told him what the movie is about and he seems interested. I understand that this is the kind of movie that we would need to discuss after seeing it.

I'd really like to hear from someone here who has seen it and can give me the low down on what to expect.
