The only Robert Johnson I'm aware of died in 1938, he was a renowned blues artist who became more famous after he died. He influenced many musicians who came later, Eric Clapton is one of many.

@glitterbag,
That's the one. Not aloud to say dead people?

Rock was derived most directly from the rhythm and blues of the early 40s.
Not many people realize that without the great blues artist, a lot of music wouldn't be the same... Personally, I consider Mr. Johnson to be the godfather of rock. This is purely opinion, not fact. Apologies for any misunderstanding.

@Daisy Ryder,
Many famous people listed here are dead, so yes you are allowed to mention deceased people. I'd caution you to be more careful in classifying musical legends. Especially with a group of participants who were alive during the evolution of rock & roll.

Robert Fulton

Daisy, the origin of Murphy's law is complicated, it's not as simple as claiming Ed Murphy invented it. This sounds like an incomplete entry on Wikipedia , Wikipedia is a way to start, but it doesn't offer a complete and well researched answer. Kudos on finding Murphy, but maybe you should have used "possibly the man who inspired the phrase"
