"Friendly fire" from Americans destroys Afghan drug control department
FWIW, friendly fire from American troops in Afghanistan destroyed Afghan drug control department, killing up to twelve people including a few freelance journalists who by coincidence attended the session.
I got this information from my m8 in Afghanistan two days ago. He said I must put it to some website or forum, because this incident was never covered in the media, neither Afghan nor Western.
On Friday, a session of Afghan drug control department was suddenly interrupted by a "chance" air bomb strike. Supposedly, a US A-10 attack jet "mistakenly" fired on the building of drug control department causing death of up to twelve people, twice as many got serious wounds. Two of the three journalists who attended the session died instantly. One more journalist who works for Deutsche Welle got serious wounds barely compatible with life. Now he is in coma and is not likely to rally from it.
Many Afghan people believe that the air strike was not incidental. Americans almost openly collaborate with Afghan drug barons and hinder uprooting drug crops. The drug control department was a hindrance to Americans and they decided to liquidate it with a single strike. What a foul deed of the US! It is also pity that German journalist got involved into this internecine accident. Or perhaps, at the cost of his life, Americans told Germans to keep out of way and take no action in fighting Afghan drug trafficking? Who knows.
What is it about A2K that attracts so many enemy combatants?
