What things in place nowadays make ppl modern day slaves? Any thing?
How can persons break the chains of modern day slavery?
Who or what is like the hard master over ppl these days?
What can bring the one or thing like the slave master to justice?
Do you feel you are a modern day slave? How come?

i'd say yes, we are slaves to money, or you could say our survival is inexorably linked to the wages provided to us? lol?

I'd say that today, we are slaves to each other.
Long ago during times of actual slavery, once a slave was set free he/she could make their own way in the world; fend for themselves, build their own home, plant and harvest their own food, needing no one else, except for maybe companionship. People were self sufficient.

Nowadays, we as a civilization are lost without each other. Psychologically we are much more desperate for human companionship so we have tv, radio, internet in all their various forms constantly turned on so that we can know there are others out there. We have to constantly communicate or hear the voices of others. (i.e. A2K)

Furthermore, when we can't have something that we want when we want it, what do we say? "I want to talk to your boss!" "Get me (so and so) on the phone!" "I want to talk to a real person on the phone, not a recording!!" When our computers aren't working properly, we depend on other humans - we demand other humans come help us, and if they don't we are at a standstill.

We are all slaves to each other. All our modern technology has only made ourselves more necessary to the rest of us.

Slaves? Are you serious?

I've had jobs I've hated but I applied for them and accepted the job and was paid for my work and determined the conditons of my life.

I couldn't be beaten or killed by my boss on a whim.

My children were not stolen from me and sold.

Gosh, I could go on and on and on and on.

Slaves? Are you serious?

hmm happycat, you got me thinking ( i know i know, isnt that impossible? Razz ) It seems to me we arent slaves to money as i originally stated, but more along the lines of slaves to convenience.

And lets face it, money is the ultimate convenience. 1 thing gets you all things, be it sex, food, housing, or entertainment clothing or education the list goes on.

I think when workers work through a lunch break or dont get paid for overtime, or they have to meet the unreasonable deadline, because they are scared they will lose their jobs, then thats a form of slavery.
Some companies/bosses expect too much.

But they are free to quit and go find a different job.

That difference is really crucial.

What some are referring to is known as "wage slavery." Study the two pages and you'll understand how the two terms differ.
