Why Conservatives "Should" Support Abortion

Reply Sat 7 Jul, 2007 08:02 pm
I I used to be as anti-abortion as the next conservative but
since it shows no sign of disappearing in the foreseable future,
I've decided to console myself with the postive aspects
of abortion.

Look at it this way, since it was legalized, upwards of
40 million abortions have been performed in this country.
Considering that liberals seem to overwhelmingly support
the practice, I figure the majority of abortions have been
performed on liberal women. This is where the good part
comes in. Of those 40 some odd million, it's likely that
at least 35 million of those aborted children would have
grown up to be liberals.

So in view of this, we should celebrate that liberals are
pro-choice and thus saving us the burden of
millions more of their ilk.

If you looked into the actual demographics of who is getting abortions, you'd find some of your conservative neighbors.

I do not know how the conservative wing backed itself into a position of telling a woman what she can and cannot do with her own body.

The people who work in the clinics that perform abortions in the Boston area talk about the several women who picket the clinics regularly whose daughters have gotten pregnant. The moms bring in their daughters. The moms don't talk about the picket lines. The clinic workers don't talk to the moms about the picket lines either. They do the procedure. Mom and daughter leave. The next week the moms are back on the picket line. What's most important is a little different when it comes home to roost, isn't it?

How true, username. Everybody is tough on crime - until a friend or relative is accused.

I have a suggestion for how to be saved from the burden of "conservatives" that display this attitude. Instead of abortions.... just f*k yourselves. Laughing

YES !
I voted for Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.
I hold George Washington and James Madison in the highest esteem.
I am and always have been an orthodox American conservative
and I have always supported freedom of abortion
as an aspect of the right of self defense from predatory intruders,
including all parasites, including uninvited fetuses.

The anti-abortion position is NOT conservative.
If thay claim that it IS, then let the anti-abortionists
prove that the Founders opposed freedom of abortion.
I don 't believe that history will support them.

a liberal who aborts her baby is most likely college educated with a career in mind, she contributes something to the world.

the person we have to contrast her to "your people" are trailer trash sluts spitting out babies that shes gonna have to fight for custody over.

she wont have an abortion even if you gave her the choice.

you dont want liberal babies and liberals dont want babies with parents that are going to beat them and send them to foster homes.

EVERY female woman or female girl has the right
to defend herself from an unwanted pregnancy,
no matter WHO she is.

On one hand, conservatives supposedly don't like big government. Yet, the only way to ban abortions en toto is through a federal law banning abortions, since liberal states won't ban it within that state.
So, what's conservative about banning abortions??
Is the word conservative being misapplied to the abortion issue?
Possibly the abortion issue centers around religious, or ethical beliefs, but not the conservatism that is anti-tax, anti-big government?

What am I missing here?

This is true.

That wud not work,
inasmuch as chix cud still leave the nation to have them done.

It 'd be worth it.

Nothing is conservative about banning abortions.
Conservative means in keeping with the vu of the Founders.
There is no evidence that thay were hostile to abortions.

Yes.

That 's a fact.

Its God's gift to us.. and if he never gives us anything else thats enough in itself.

If I would have been aborted, I wouldn't be here to answer your question.

If one believes in God, yes, life is a gift from God; however, since this God made us reproduce through the mammalian dance, we call sex, I cannot expect a woman to be willing to deliver every baby that some guy starts growing in her womb. Why you might ask? Simple, history is filled with invaders raping women in a vanquished territory. So today we have blondes all over Europe. Guess what. Most of Europe, a little over a thousand years ago, only had brown hair and brown eyes!

It's easy for the male gender to say abortions should be banned, or even for a devout woman to say, since I believe devout women would likely love any baby they birthed; all women aren't so loving; that's the reality.

So, in a perfect world, all births would be by choice. Babies would be loved and provided for by mature, loving mothers/families. Well, that's not the reality. So, in context of the real world, I personally, think women have the right to control their lives and their bodies and abort a fetus early in the pregnancy before the baby really is a baby in her womb.

Its usually OK
to be flippant;
I am serious about the freedom of ANYONE
to defend himself or herself from any intruder, including human embryos.
Thay have NO right to be there,
extorting a manufacturing process, from their hostess against her will,
and later inflicting pain upon her.

OK.

I wud not like to have been aborted,
but what I like and what I dislike have no relevance
to what I have a RIGHT to have.
For instance, I may LIKE to date a particular beautiful chic,
but I have NO RIGHT to do so against her will.
For instance, I may LIKE to drive my neighbor 's Rolls Royce,
but I have NO right to drive it against his will.

I may well LIKE a lot of things, and dislike many others,
but my PREFERENCES have no effect upon my RIGHTS, nor upon anyone else 's corresponding duties.

By the way,
I don 't believe that respect for everyone 's right to self defense
from intruders is FLIPPANT.
