I disagree with any attempt to make doctrine more important than anything else. i disagree with those who insist that only those who can pass the Cosmic Theology Quiz are worthy of acceptance by their deity. IMO, a person can get all the right answers on the CTQ and still be cruel, violent, and anything but loving. To me, that is insanity.

Tough for me as I notice that within Christianity there are so many different facits. In other words, more conservative Christians believe women should not be religious leaders - while more middle road or liberal Christians believe that women make excellent religious leaders. Pretty much the one agreement of Christianity is belief in Christ. All the other stuff is open to interpretation of the Bible.

So it isn't that there are parts of the religion I disbelieve in as I believe in Christ, it is more that I may not agree with the more conservative interpretations of the Bible.

Thats my main problem about organized religion, no two people are the same. I.e. no two people have the same beliefs.

I suppose it would also depend on the Church or organized religion itself. Many Christian Churches/ministers will give their interpretation and state that this is what they understand from so and so verse or scripture. Often many Churches do not say this is black and white, but what they interprete it to mean. You are open to discuss and understand differently - in other words you can believe differently in organized religion. You don't have to agree with the ministers interpretation - they don't say this is it - Even at a more conservative Church I attended they minister said that - he pretty said this is my belief, my understanding of the scripture - women should not be spiritual leaders - he would never say that this is absolute - more his belief.

Of course there are some Churches where they say this is the belief and you can't deviate from it. You are wrong if you belief otherwise, but most I found are open to various interpretations.

If you disagree with the official religious doctrine of a church than I really do not see any point of joining this church. If everyone in a certain church had different opinions on most things, you would end up with some sort of support group.

I have a Catholic friend who likes to go to church (he says) because during the service he feels a strong inner peace. He isn't much interested in church doctrine. Everyone has their own motive, I suppose.

I agree - I know some people like the fellowship aspect of it as well.

I understand that inner peace feeling as I have that feeling as well.

One other thing that I like is this gives me the time to think/feel spirtually - I may not agree with all the particular beliefs, but even hearing the minister speak, I get to think and ponder how I view it the same or differently. Some times this also gets me doing some research on specifics aspects of scripture. I guess I love the spiritual as well as the intellectual aspects of it.

Supposedly.. God, created man in his own image... To a intelligent person, not brain washed from birth into any particular religion and on reaching the age of reason... Would assume that this god was identical to a male-man, thus making him a male with no knowledge of a female ( you do have to have a woman first to give birth to a male )so one would be left with only one solution to this problem.... God was a female or, the stupid idea that the bible was written by man, with all the superiority that he takes over woman.
