A family of swallows has taken up residence on our front porch. The chicks just became visible.

They're saying "Where are my reports? Change this one! Do this one faster! Don't you know I have a meeting coming up?!"

Oh, oops, that's work.

Great photo. I've been watching via webcam a family of peregrine falcons. What I've learned from my observations, among other things, is that bird parenting is for the birds.

Dem kids is DEMANDING.

Blue skies here today so I decided to take a book out into our garden, I nearly had a heart attack when this little fella suddenly flew down right in front of me. It was very small and very friendly which surprised me but I guess it was because it was young, happy for me to hold it and stroke it too. Incredibly fragile little animal though. I finally held him up in the air as high as I could and he flew off into the nearby fields. A squirrel also darted along a fence just away frome me but he was too quick for me and my camera...

I've got a family of doves that likes to spend most of their time standing around on my porch railing. Very soothing.

My favorites though, are these 2 or 3 grackles that are such bully boys.

Their song makes me laugh out loud, it sounds like a spaceship landing and shooting their laser guns.

ACCCK.....ACCCCK

WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP

PTUUU PTUUU PTUU PTUU (those are the laser guns)

WHOOP WHOOP

PTUUU PTUUU

AAAAAAACCCCCKKKKKK.

Daddy bird has disappeared; we're afraid he might have been caught by a neighborhood cat.

How are they any more disgusting than any other bird?

All birds are disgusting.

You're just jealous because you don't have birds with laser guns in your yard.

ptuu ptuu ptuu......

I love the face of the second-from-the-right character.

Grackles live in those big colonies so that they can defecate on each other in an attempt to reduce parasites.

Disgusting....
