When someone makes a post that's 2000+ words long. It could be a subject that really interests me, but I've got way to much to do to sit at my computer screen and read thousands of words.
Any particular post/thread in mind?
I don't want to point fingers in this case (god, is that really me typing this?). There was thread I was reading a few minutes ago that I was really interested in, and I got to one of these interminable posts, and just decided to start this one!
Wilso, me either.
I try and keep my posts as short and sweet as I can because I can't stand long drawn out posts....
It's my ADD talking.
Me, too, Wilso. Sometimes I think it's a shame, that I'm missing some really interesting stuff, but I just can't read those huge long posts. Sometimes I wait for other members to respond (usually in shorter bits) so that I can get the flavour of the original without having to read it.
And even worse are the medium or long posts without paragraphs -- my eyes just go buggy.
Gus's posts, of course, are the model of pithiness.
There's long good and there's long long. I've come to know whom to expect which from. I skip the long and stick with the good.
The Cut & Paste threads sadden me. The topic can be a good one, but because the author hasn't put thought into pithy presentation, the thread will probably die.
cut and paste over 2 paragraphs I skip, composed depends on who the poster is.
I usually read the first two words of okie's posts and then I generally fall asleep.
Cutting and pasting the entire article just turns me off.
Trying to wade through reams and reams of information in A2K font just makes me go into a daze after about three paragraphs I'm afraid to say.
Much better to give a quick accurate synopsis, cut and paste the first paragraph or so, and then post the link that takes you to the full article.
That way, at least you'd have a general idea of what is transpiring, even if you don't have the time or inclination to read the whole thing.
quotes within quotes within quotes within quotes. Hate that as well.
I've vowed never again to read those threads where someone wants you to do their (generally high school) homework for them.

I hear you, Letty
Bugs the hell out of me.
Why can't people just respond in a different manner?

But I do understand what you are saying.

Thanks, Boomer. I needed that.
