"Almost the right colour" probably means they are not a commercial variety. but should be just as sweet and delish.

Wet branches are twice as heavy.

Oh I hope so! (sweet & delish, I mean!)

Yes, I've taken to (gently) shaking the moisture off the (alarmingly sagging!) branches after rain.

I thought you had to pee on citrus plants to make the fruit sweet?

Front yard or back yard, Olga?

Too late for the pee-thing, margo! Sweet or sour, I'm now stuck with them the way they are.

Back yard. Just near the potted triffid tomato plant, if you can remember where that was.

Certainly remember the tomato plant - never seen anything like it!
So - you could pee in peace there!

But at an exceedingly awkward angle ... for the mandarine tree!

Just looking closely at this photo of mandarines, some appear to be unevenly ripend as you describe. (blotchy green patches)

Something I have learned from all these years of gardening - suggested planting protocol is just that: suggested. Plants continue to surprise me with their flexibility to growing conditions.

Yes, I agree, k.
I've seen some really surprising gardening success stories in very unlikely circumstances.
But this one's even more surprising than most: I have somehow managed to kill so many citrus trees I've attempted to grow! Sad

It's a bird, it's a plane...
It's a boy, it's a girl...

It's a real tree with real fruit
and it is growing for msolga.

Thank you, Noddy!

I knew eventually I'd get it right!

Though in this case, I think "other forces" were at work & should take the credit!

Now...eat a mandarin.

Is it sweet enough!

If not - get out there - invite your friends over for a mandarin-sweetening evening.

Wheeeee!!!!!!!!!
