Well, I suppose that if you share credit for the formation of your government with your favorite deity, then you can probably also share blame with that deity should things go awry (ala Hurricanes and IEDs are God's punishment for homosexuality and abortion).

Looks like all these constitutions are unconstitutional.

Wonder how come all of these folks (including many of the Founding Fathers who assisted with drafting the constitutions for their individual states) didn't know about separation of church and state being guaranteed by the US Constitution? Oh ..................... 'cause it's not.

You're a bad dog, baddog, for bringing this up. This isn't gonna make you any liberal friends. Tch tch. Laughing

No meantion of Yahweh or Ala or the Flying Spegetti Monster, so as far as I'm concerned, the separation of church and state is still upheld.

As I noted earlier, here in Missouri, we have "reverence for the Supreme Ruler of the Universe," no nessisarily a god. LOL.

EDIT: I'm mistaken, Virginia...

However, I'm confused, is this the preamble? RL, looks like you need to move to Virginia.

Yeah it's interesting how the Tolerance Police are tolerant of nearly everything except Christians.

Never met or heard of the Tolerance Police--have you gone off your paranoia medication, "real life?"

As a tolerant man, i'm only intolerant of Christians who are intolerant, such as those who would impose their superstitions on us all.

It's not? Unlike some state constitutions, there is no mention of any god or any divinity in the U.S. Constitution. Furthermore, the first amendment states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". This prohibition extends to local government by virtue of the fourteenth amendment.

Everyone talks about God (in these preambles), but nobody actually takes the time to define which God they are talking about. This happens despite the fact that almost eveyone has a different vision of what God is.

Maybe the omission of a definition was intentional.

Maybe they wanted to thank a 'higher power' but intentionally didn't want to limit it to any particular concept.
