Does anyone know of the key conservation methods for protecting/saving the rainforests?

Also, does anyone know why some people would think that some conservation methods are bad??

I say screw the rain forest and dump all the fertilizer we can get into the ocean.
We'll get some radical growth of algae that would make up for everything.
