I'm praying for no rain and to be able to keep my eyes open for the whole game.

Why does it have to start at 8:00? Rolling Eyes

8:00 = prime-time = more $$ for ESPN...

i highly doubt manny will get pitched-to with runners on and first base open tonight...

dice was ordinary, but received enough O to notch win #3.
pedroia, drew, youk, casey & crisp all had 2 hits each...
casey is tailor-made for fenway...
jacoby is 11-fer-11 in stolen bases.
not a bad way to start a career...
timlin's ERA is down-right obscene: 81.00...

they tend to save those for the first round of the playoffs... although NESN does show the day games during the season.

more 9th inning heroics, this time courtesy of a 'tek pinch-hit dinger.
pitching kept us in the game... oki-doki nailed down his first save.
we're riding a 4-game win-streak, and now have sole possession of first place...

Manny is five away from becoming the 24th player in history to hit 500.

"Is Ramirez excited to be closing in on the big 500?

"Not really. I'm going for 600," Ramirez said.

What about 700?

"Hey, [the] sky's the limit. Why not?" said Ramirez."

That's Manny for ya...... Laughing Laughing

tonight was papi's turn: 2-4, grand salami, 5 ribs.

http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2008/04/18/1208573205_7901.jpg

they gave him a fake cold shoulder when he got back to the dugout.
good times...

young jacoby had a triple, 3 walks, and scored from first on a single/error.
that kid really makes things happen out there!

dice-K pitched well enough (5.1 innings, 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks, 4 K's) to earn win #4...

1st-place sawx have won 8 outta their last 10...

another late-inning comeback win this afternoon.
down 5-zip, they got 2 in the 7th and 4 in the 8th.
all the more impressive after manny got tossed for arguing a called 3rd strike in the 1st.
sawx banged out 15 hits, including 3 from youk, 2 each from ellsbury, lowrie(!), papi and casey.
jacoby had two more swipes; has yet to be caught.
wake went 8, got smacked around pretty good, but got the W.
pap got S #7.

tomorrow buchholz throws pitch #1 @ 11:05am EDT.
will attempt to watch the game on ESPN gamecast from work...

You'll need to stage an argument about something frightfully metrosexual. Last year, it was Yankee candles. This year (yesterday) it was about how bad Don Orsillo (the play by play guy) is at ironing his pants.

make it a 4-game texas sweep.

buchholz tossed a 6-inning shutout (5 hits, 2 walks, 6 K's) to pick up his 1st W.
papi: 2-4 w/ 3 ribs.
lugo: 4-5...

someday i'll look back on this time and think, "damn we were good back then, weren't we?"

down 5-1, we came from behind again, beating the angels 7-6.
make it a 6-game winning streak and a 3-game lead over baltimore.
we're now hitting .302 as a team.

beckett was a late scratch with a stiff neck / flu.
pawtucket pauley was called up, but didn't fare too well.

ellsbury: 3-5, 2 HR's, 3 R's
pedroia: 4-5, 2 2B's
bulpen: 4.2 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 3 K's.
pap: S #8

check out these season batting avg's:
ellsbury .308
pedroia .364
ramirez .342
youkilis .354
jd drew .302
s casey .340
j lowrie .375
j lugo... .324

trying to imagine what it would be like if ortiz was hitting.
not sure what it'd be like, but i'm sure it's gainst the rules...
