pap nailed it down in the 9th.

expect GAG-ne to pitch tonight.

the lead is 4 games.

That's scary.....

I'll be at the make up rain out game on Friday. I think Beckett is scheduled to pitch that game. I'm looking forward to that. Seems like everytime I go Wakefield is pitching, not that that's a bad thing, but I do like Beckett.

he did suck (for us) up until last night, when he pulled "a Pap" by strking out the side in the 9th.

lowell & crisp took care of the rest.

amazing stat: that was only their 2nd walk-off win all year.

lester pitched his best game so far (7 innings, 2 measly hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 4 K's).

spankees finally got spanked.
the lead is 5...

I think they traded him for a cheeseburger. One with bacon, lettuce, tomato, chili, cheese, pickle and onions. A loaded cheeseburger. With angus beef.

Watching Clay Bucholtz pitch. For a debut, he looks pretty good. Had a shaky first inning, but he's got some good stuff...great looking change and curve.

wake (15-10) continued his dominance over tampa bay (7 shutout innings, 4 hits, 1 walk, 5 K's).

emergency catcher cash held his own, and for the most part held onto the ball.
sawx got to ace kazmir early and often.

so the lead is back to 5, thanx to an angelic walk-off win out west...

good news and bad news for the spankees last night.
good news: they scored 9 runs.
bad news: they gave up 18...

the lead is 6, thanx to some good hitting and even better relieving.

pap (30 saves) has invented a new pitch.
he says its a combination of a splitter and a cutter.
he calls it a slutter Exclamation

Red Sox Nation new king of the road
By Paul White, USA TODAYNo one, including the hallowed Yankees, plays to bigger crowds on the road.

The cheering, fawning and often angst-ridden Red Sox Nation is everywhere, some nights outnumbering the home team's fans at Red Sox road games. Some fans are newcomers, having latched on to the team of the moment. Others are die-hards who have found it easier to see their beloved Sox away from Boston because it's often difficult and expensive to get tickets to games in Boston's tiny Fenway Park.

nice double-dip romp last night (11-3 & 10-1), and we're puttin' the hurt on the chisox again today
(12-0, top of the 8th).

cy beckett (16-5) wasn't great, but got the W.
schill was great (6 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 3 K's), and wake has a 3-hit shutout going today.

we gained 1 1/2 games on the spanks yesterday, and will be 7 games up in a few minutes...

great effin' game!
(ok, maybe not quite as good as buchholz's no-no* last night.)
perfect weather, the paahk looked amazing, and we had a lot of fun.

lester was mostly in control -- 6 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks, 1 K.
the bullpen did the rest.
ellsbury made a couple of great catches, and hit what turned out to be the game-winning homer -- his first in the bigs.

so, coupled with a(nother) spankee's loss, the lead is now 6 games...

* 2 interesting things about the no-no --
the first time they called buchholz up, francona said he was only getting one start, and would be sent back down "even if he threw a no-hitter." Exclamation

also, he was on a strict pitch-count.
he has never thrown more than 98 in his career, so Theo decided 120 would be his limit -- no matter what.
luckily, he struck out the last batter with pitch #115 -- sparing them the embarrassment of removing a pitcher throwing a no-no...
