This has nothing to do with your beliefs, just yknow.. what you think is the coolest culturally. Islam with its Arabic-ness, Christianity with its pretty churches..

I think Wicca is coolest.

Edit: WTF is Boston Cream Pie

edit: Darn you april fools.

I can answer the Boston Cream Pie question. It's a delicious cake of vanila custard and songe cake. You must try some before you die.

Personally, the so-called "Wiccan" religion is offensive to my sense of the culture of my ancestors. It is based on a fuzzy and largely inaccurate recapitulation of what people think the Druids believed, and there are no reliable written records of what that was, and what written records do survive consist of christian attacks on beliefs which they intended to obliterate. Otherwise, the Wiccans are a bunch of jokers with no core creed who love to play at witchcraft. Although essentially harmless, i think they are fools, and their canting drivel offends my esthetic sense.

The coolest religion, bar none, has got to the Pastafarians of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I became convinced of the essential "rightness" of the FSM creed when i read their incontrovertible proof of the relationship between global warming and the decline in the number of pirates.

Oy, no one wants to be Jewish?

"The Yiddishe Mama Blues" (to the tune of "The St. James Infirmary Blues")

Quote:
Folks, I'm goin' to see my Yiddishe Mama,
eat corned beef so rare;
She's hangin' out at Rosen's Deli,
She's so sweet, it just ain't fair.

Let her cook, let her cook, God bless her,
Whatever's kosher, you see,
She will search this wide world over,
But she'll never find another mammelle like me.

Now, when I die, bury me in Machpelah,
Put on a box-back coat and a fur-trimmed hat,
Put on a nice spread, with lox and khrane,
So you can let all the boys know I died standing pat.

Folks, now that you have heard my story,
Say, boy, hand me another shot of that booze;
If anyone should ask you,
Tell 'em I've got those Yiddishe mama blues.

mammelle - a young girl; my grandmothers called me that when I was a preschooler.
Machpelah - the cemetary where a lot of my family is buried
khrane - very hot horseradish

I was gonna say Jewish if the question is about culturel coolness. Culture, they got! Oh, and Mah Jongg. That's pretty cool.

Then I thought, no Rastafarian - Very cool. The ultimate in cool as long as your male.

Then I saw Setanta's post and I must confess to agreeing with him.

PASTAFARIANS RULE COOL!

Those of us who belong to the military wing of the Pastafarian religion adorn full pirate regalia as the official uniform.

Although there are many small sects which are even whackier than "mainstream" Wicca, most of the beliefs and practices of the alleged Wiccan "religion" derive from Gerald Gardner, an English civil servant who began a Wicca cult in 1954 after he had retired. Allegedly, he was a student of "magic," and knew Aleister Crowley--which is enough to brand him a loony right there. People like Gardner cobble together some mumbo-jumbo, and sucker people in their tens of thousands. Crowley, at least, had some style.

It's horsiepoop--do some web searches on Aleister Crowley, Gerald Gardner and Gardnerian Wicca. It is mildly interesting reading for about ten or fifteen minutes. An old acquaintance of many years ago was obsessed with Crowley, and insisted i read about him, and to learn the "truth." I have rarely waded through so much bullshit in such a short period of time.

Witchcraft is defined perfectly, simply and unambiguously in the Malleus Malificarum. It's really cool actually. And not only that. It may well prove to be a necessity at some point.

The definition provides a sound grounding for defining misogyny properly instead of slinging the term around in the service of complacent flattery of the self.

Francis- your remark is profoundly anti-religious. It is the polar opposite of religion.

Spendi, in case the word obviously didn't strike you, it was perfectly intended.

But you know about my religion, which is to have none, even that one...

I think the Rastafarian religion has the coolest culture. Bob Marley, dreads, pot, beaches...come on, all that ****'s supercool, compared to the pope with his pointy hat.
