Kev, scroll up: we know he's a real, dead male (but we don't know yet whether he was in showbiz).

I asked my girlfriend again about Kate Mulgrew. She says although Mrs. Colombo never appeared on the TV show "Colombo", Kate Mulgrew starred in a short-lived spin-off called "Mrs. Colombo", in which she solved cases (and Peter Falk never showed up). Probably a marital spat. Something about those dirty raincoats.

15 questions to go

This may be a rather difficult one. I'll offer an early clue:
he died on the same day as his brother.

Both he and his brother were in the same line of work and therefore not in entertainment. I won't count that as a question.

Yes, died before 1900.

To my surprise Bree, at the little big horn massacre were:

George Custer
Tom Custer his brother
Boston Custer His brother
James Calhoun His brother in law
James Reed His nephew

25th June 1876 was a bad day for the custer family.

Tom Custer is correct! He and brother George (and civilian brother Boston Custer) were killed at the Little Big Horn.

Trivia: Tom Custer was one of the first (maybe THE first?) soldiers to have earned two medals of honor, for action in the Civil War. Brother George didn't have any.
