If severe brain-damage can rob a person of all selfhood, then is there a "spirit" which survives after bodily death?
If the memory and personality is destroyed when the brain is destroyed (which they are), then what does the spirit contain?
Spirit, as I see it, is merely the flame that animates. The mysterious force of life in a living organism is what I'd call spirit.
