@spendius,
Give over Spendi. What a fantastically brilliant, dramatic final day. That was Roy of the Rovers on methamphetamine, still can't believe it.

So glad QPR are staying up as well after a performance like that. If Bolton can't win on a day like today, they don't deserve to stay up.

@izzythepush,
I fancied counting the votes and reading the reports about the match (psssscht: I followed it on the mobile)

@izzythepush,
You have Rupert Murdoch to thank for that spectacle you know. That's why I can't bring myself to be too hard on the guy.

@spendius,
It has made money the byline, on paper City should win and Chelsea should be second. It doesn't work out like that though. What made it so tight was QPR having a real go, and I don't think that was anything to do with Murdoch.

The top six are almost as predicted, with Newcastle swiping Liverpool's place, other than that it's just positioning.

Don't you think the League would be better if, say, Everton had a chance of winning?

It could hardly have been better scripted...Fergies men march off the pitch at Sunderland, preparing to take a lap of honour in front of their fans, when they get the news from Manchester. The faces were a picture to be treasured.
The reason I don't like United is because they have always been so unsporting in times of victory. Fergie was sportsmanlike today however, quite fulsome in his congratulations.

Joey Barton eh, what a snapper. I think his reputation does him no favours with officials. Tevez seemed to be the one who started that.

@McTag,

Went into town yesterday, had a curry at Malu's, and intended to go down to Albert Square to see the Manchester City celebrations before the open-topped bus parade.
But the place was so mobbed, and all the access sealed up tight, people being funnelled up Brazennose Street and the queue being about 100 yards long at that point, and the din from the loudspeakers being tremendous, and ecstatic fans everywhere blowing air horns, I though the better of it.
100,00 people they said, and it could have been more. A good time was had by all.

QPR were battered izzy. The game was played in their half mostly. They got two lucky goals.

I liked what Joey Barton said about Gary Lineker.

@spendius,
They were expected to go down, being a man down and a goal up towards the end of the second half says something about their fighting spirit, it can't all be put down to luck.

@spendius,

Lineker was fairly free with his comment on Joey Barton too. "odious oik" or some such.

What was that thing about not wrestling with a pig?

@izzythepush,
I am. I bet on a draw at half-time, a draw at full time and Chelsea to win on penalties.

NFL is pathetic compared to that spectacle. ******* pathetic. Whatever makes them think they can sell NFL to the world?

Chelsea 3 Bayern 2 aet. No penalties, please.

Wrong on both counts!

But I've changed my mind, and decided that penalties are quite a good way to decide a tie.

@McTag,
It's not so much the penalty shoot out Mac as the low scoring tie. It's a sort of metaphor for low scoring in general and the difficulty of scoring compared to the American high scoring rate mentality.

Which, according to Kinsey, is only a mentality.

@izzythepush,

What was the corner count? About twenty to one? I think Chelsea were just too stupid to realise when they were beaten.

Don't talk so bloody silly Mac. That goal was worth the cup. No footballer realises his team is beaten at 1-0.

@spendius,

I didn't get where I am today without talking bloody silly.

But you miss my point. Chelsea were outplayed, like an old slugger on the ropes.
I'll think of a better metaphor later.

@McTag,
You're just envious.

How can you crab a side that came back from the dead against Napoli, beat Barcelona and then brought the Champion's League Trophy back to England in an away game with a weakened team.

Defenders play as well as the flash Harrys up front. It isn't all edited highlights.

@spendius,

That's true.

It's easier to destroy than to create. Chelsea just had to play a rearguard action, against Barcelona and against Bayern. They did that very well, very well indeed. But the opinion on the blogs is that it's horrible to watch that kind of football. (Try telling that today to Mr Abramovich, though).

I concede the point. Chelsea were marvellous. They must be pinching themselves at what they have achieved, against massive odds.
