Merry Christmas, Brits ! I hope you are getting by happily with a cold and snowy winter (probably a side effect of all those wind turbines), and are all snug, warm and content. Cheers !

It's raining a lot here in San Francisco - we have only two seasons; hillside fires and mudslides.

@georgeob1,
No problem George. Your's looks a good deal more trying.

But all the best for the jollies.

I have a hypothesis about California. The land is so cheap because it's basically uninhabitable and so development costs can be all put into flash features. Here the land is half the cost of a house. So we have to make do with hovels but at least they never get shaken to pieces, washed away or fried.

We are, thank you.

Cheers and a Merry Christmas to you too, George.

Sorry I haven't done fm's assignment today, I was distracted, but will try tomorrow.
I have had this month's bath tonight, and now it's time for bed.
Good night.

Lack-of information is never an inconvenience to spendi and his opinions.

@farmerman,
The whole point of a hypothesis fm is that it lacks information. If it didn't it wouldn't be a hypothesis--it would be a fact.

@spendius,
Coronation Street just did a wonderful Merry Christmas episode. Tracey Barlow arrived being out on bail pending appeal now that the forensic scientist whose evidence got her convicted has been found to be an imposter with no qualifications.

She is a work of art to teach young men what sort of women to avoid. And a great looker.

@spendius,
Oh--I forgot--there's two new born babies. Fielding started with a newborn baby. Sterne started 9 months earlier.

@spendius,
A very Merry Christmas to all my English friends.

ps. Fourth Test starts in Melbourne tomorrow spendi, with 100.000 Aussies screaming for blood at the MCG! How will your boys acquaint themselves in front of such a massive hostile crowd?

@Dutchy,

They will acquit themselves well, and rub those cheeky little Aussie faces in the MCG dirt.

How will your players acquit themselves with so many expectations resting upon their performance? It would certainly make me a complete bag of dithering nerves if I was waiting for the ball to come down out of the sun if 100,000 unforgiving fanatics were to have their self-esteem destroyed if I dropped it. And having to field in front of the Great Southern Stand afterwards.

Our lot are used to be laughed at.

@spendius,
Nobody is laughing at your lot at stumps tonight SpendiI! Your boys bundled out the home team for less than 100 (98) and in return scored 0/157, with Strauss on 64 no and Cook on 80 no. I have a feeling we'll be chasing a massive score in our second innings.

@Dutchy,

These numbers tally with what the BBC told me this morning.

This is not going to plan.

444 for 5?

I thought England would declare about the 400 mark. What will they do now?
