@Ionus,
I've tried Pride of Pendle, Honeypot, Workie Ticket, Nutty Slack, Well Blathered, Mature Toad and Guzzler.

I bow to your experience Io.

Have you tried Old Rosie's Cloudy Scrumpie?

@Ionus,

I don't think I'd like to rent a girl called Viking Bitter. But No.2 Stout sounds kind of cuddly.
I think my favourite is Da Vinci Toad.

Morning, all.
I brought home a kebab last night which I really did not need, my bad.

I have unaccountably gained three pounds in weight recently (not all down to the kebab) and am about eight pounds over my fighting weight.

So my Guy Fawkes' resolution is....lose it.

A wee joke in The Guardian letters today:

The new Anglo-French navy needs a rousing motto.
In English: "To the water, this is the hour!"; or in French,
"A l'eau, c'est l'heure!"

@McTag,
Is that a motto to tell through the phone?

@McTag,
When is Guy Fawkes day, and is it common to make a wish on this day? I'd never heard of this before, or is this a joke to screw up us foreigners? lol

@Ceili,

Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.

Should ever be forgot...

@McTag,
There are multiple views of history. At Gonzaga High school we viewed old Guy a freedom fighter and rooted for the Duke of Medina and his Armada. Later at Annapolis I felt myself the ally of the French in studying their 17th and 18th century naval wars with the British. They also had much more beautiful names than the Brits "de Glassionaire, de Grasse, Sourcouf" etc,. s0unded so much better than Hawke, Jarvis and the rest.

Did an old lady spook you in the pram with a Union Jack George?

@spendius,
Yes. It was an Irish american immigrant community, and you were the enemy.

I have, of course, outgrown all childish prejudices and now view the world with dispassionate wisdom and understanding.

@Francis,
I have always known, Francis, that you envied the state of tranquil self-knowledge and understanding that I have achieved.

But its OK. I think you are a nice guy too. Hell, I even like McTag & Spendius (though Spendi can't abide that).

Ah, the inanity of the human pretenses!

You know nothing about my envies, George, and that one is just putative...

@Francis,
I'd heard of him, forgot the date but was more curious as to the wish or resolution. I'd never heard that before, that's why I wondered if it were a joke. Very Happy
