Yes...

How indolent of me, to stay in bed 'till 6.45!

Well, it was nice and warm, and it's a rainy day outside.

I've got no blind at the bathroom window...

I've rigged up a screen with a hand towel and a large cookery book (The Legendary Cuisine of Persia).

Hope nothing slips...

Just waiting for the water.

The Germans have a nicer way of saying that, which loosely translates as "people in a state of rest"

Which sounds a bit better, no? Or maybe that's too much like what Luciano did on Friday.

Thinks....am I a snowbird, or a silver surfer? Or a wazzock?

Excuse me, must go and put one of my Prince CDs on.

You're referring to what German term?
('Arbeitslose' - the official and generally used term - translates to "people without work. "Ruheständler", a term still used sometimes, would be your translation = 'pensionists'.)

Leute im Ruhestand

Smorgs referred to me as "unemployed" but as it was early on Monday morning, and she's no doubt got "the buroo" on the brain, perhaps she can be forgiven. I am retired, Smorgy dear.

But not retiring.

They are the reserve labour force.

Actually, a lot of people on good money fit into the same category if stringent economic principles are brought to bear rather than polite euphemisms.

Okay I've just come back from the airport, which my Longley Lane pal is soon leaving for Naples.

Like am I supposed to know what The Sixth Sense is? I've heard of the Four Horsemen and the Five Osmond Brothers, the Seven Samurai and the Tenbeigh Eight, but not that.

If you watch a women's football match, as I do now and again for laughs, the commentators often say a player is "fast" but they only mean in relation to the other players.

Watching the opening of the World Championship just now, too?

Those poor Arnetinians are fast .... but 0:3 back against the acting World Champion after 23 mins.

No. I imagine it would be even funnier than football. Probably get banned I should think.

They ought to have a match every year between the best of both at cricket and football with cash bonuses for goals, runs and wickets to stop mercy coming into effect.

They would soon see how wide the gulf is instead of pretending it's narrowing.

So...

I came home for lunch to let the electrician in - it was a woman!

She looked about 12 and was very pretty, I said it was nice to see a female electrician, she said she enjoyed her job, I asked her if she got any 'stick' from the men, she said for about 2 days on any job, but then they usually got bored with it.

Just came home from work...

No electric supply to the cooker, sockets in the kitchen and the lights!

NEVER send a pretty girl to do a mans job!

Saw an interview with a lesbian/feminist/separatist the other evening, she was saying that in the early days of the feminist movement, they always tried to hire female trades people, but they were invariably rubbish.
