Doris Day was offered the part of Mrs Robinson.

She turned it down. She said it was too naive. Which it was.

Funny when someone makes a part their own, you can't imagine anyone else doing it. Anne Bancroft was just perfect in the role.

And I think, better than DD would have been. We'll never know.

If you'd gone next week, you would have met some old friends waiting for a different flight, next gate

Have a nice time!

Give over Mac. This ain't a primary school.

You're off to Germany for boredom relief. There'll be people in Germany saying they're off to England for a little lob scouse and a black pudding.

We are having to pay highly trained policemen to usher you safely through the gates.

No Spendi you are wrong!

Mac's and others travelling ensure jobs and wages for policemen and a lot of others!

Your sitting on your couch and watching the box, encourages phone in rip off's and smoking bans!

How the bloody hell do you work that out.

And I don't sit on my couch either. I lounge full length with two cushions behind my head. Sitting is a bit prim. I'm not a flipping hen.

I am well aware that Mac's treatment for boredom relief requires an exhorbitant contribution from the taxpayer. You don't seriously think he could afford it if the full cost was down to him do you? Nobody could be that stupid surely. You don't think the the telephone kiosk smasher would engage in his activities if he had to pay for the restoration do you?

It's another Aberfan. Only on a much grander scale. As long as you think racist I mean.

Although I do recognise how important it is to be able to get at a little Aufenthalt and a few Kuchens every now and again. It gives one social cachet don't you know.

Lunch, no doubt, in one of those hostelries with the red lights and the tart's knickers curtains, so fashionable these days, where they specialise in allowing proles to feel a notch or two above their actual station in life on a temporary basis in return for permission to hack into their assets to an extent proportional to the number of notches the said proles are to be so raised.

The strain of foot-and-mouth disease found at a Surrey farm has been identified, Defra has said.

The strain detected in infected cattle is identical to that used at the Institute for Animal Health, at Pirbright, three miles from the farm.

Defra could not say the laboratory was the source but has increased the size of the protection and surveillance zones covering farms in the area.

An urgent assessment of biosecurity has begun at the institute.

this is crap

That's an outrageous assertion.

I have never been further south than Haydock Park racecourse for donkey's years. My Grandmama told me that only aliens frequented latitudes further south than that. She said that they had to "take the rouble and the dinar" and tell lies on the TV to keep themselves afloat.

Beef, of course (I hope...very tasty, anyway)

It was Rhineland Sauerbraten, I am told.

Smile

And we had Schneebaelle mit Kaffee in Rothenburg this afternoon, coffee with a big cake that looks like a snowball, a local speciality.
