Pretty pathetic huh? I mean, not saying that I played 40 games in one go or anything. But still.
streaks are the only reason to play the game...
how do you win THAT game?
Take it slowly. Gently explore where the sensitive cards are located. Dont just start smashing cards on cards whereever possible, but focus on where your moves will have maximum effect. Dont focus on your own desire to rush the kick of the game, but focus on getting the final outcome right. Then when you've got a good line going, try to take it as far as you can, before moving on to a next move.
Dont take reckless risks, but its OK to be bold if you know what you're doing. Once you've got the first layers straightened out and the initial pressure is off, you'll see the game will speed up. Flowing ever more easily, and moving faster. Once the cards start slipping off toward homebase, and only then, you can allow yourself the rush and take it fast.
The good part is when you know that everything will come together, and you throw in a few hurdles to make it last longer. Leaving that last two of hearts locked under a king of diamonds until you have made all the lines stretch as long as you can. When you've done that, all you need is one more flick of a movement, and bang, satisfaction is complete.
what version do you guys play?
i've been using this one, since 1990 or so.
it was an add-on for windows 3.1 --

It's the very same as came with the latest XP-version:
Wow, I hadn't played that in ages......
i ask because i've seen other (non-window) versions of it...
nimh, Very impressive. I made it to 23. Then I noticed I made it to 23; usually I don't pay attention to that. Once I knew I was on a roll, I got tense. It became important. I screwed up.
Like I said, very impressive.

I found this one a few weeks ago, give it a spin and see what you think...it is "planned move" heavy. I played the heck out of it, then finally got several layers deep one night...6 or 7th level, then finally lost, and have not felt like trying to beat that.
Genuis!
Simply because you managed to describe freecell in a way that gives me a bit of a sweat.
Ever consider a career writing erotica?
Now I have the strangest urge to play free cell....
working on a modest 9-game winning streak...
thanks to this post, I officially can not stop playing free cell
Aww... and I got so far - 96% won of 72 games played..
But I'm gonna lose this one.
I hope this isn't available for Macs...
I'm impressed . . . 28 in a row is my personal best . . . and yes, i did it in one sitting . . .
trying to adjust to the vista version.
just not seeing the cards as well as on v5.1...
