A beaver was found near Long Island for the first time in 200 years last week. Now, if this had been San Francisco, it would really have been news.

The beaver was found in the Bronx River, not in the harbor. The story is interesting because it demonstrates the effectiveness of the movement many years ago to clean up the river, which is the last free flowing stream on Manhattan Island.
Here is a print version of this very interesting story.
This story is giving me chillbumps.
Brings James Fenimore Cooper to mind (NY state long ago...)
This is great news! As a former Bronxite, I remember the Bronx River as something nothing could live in. Go Jose.
