It's been five months since Miss Lacey graced us with her presence. And I think she likes it here.

That was really spooky, Rog! Soon as I finished reading your post, Lacey quietly jumped on the bed.....snuck up to my chair, meowed and plopped for petting!

GREAT PICTURES RAE!! It's is just so much fun to have
a new kitty around the house isn't it? I'll have to get
out all my old skills of making huge cardboard boxes
into castles with windows here - little trap doors there,
ooh, and it is such fun for me too.
Oh dear Rae ... I am SO sadly grieving, we lost our
darling Kita last week (Kita had been with us for 9 years
almost) My vet just brought over her ashes today, she
is a wonderful young woman. Her mom is a good friend
of ours. My poor Kita baby - I knew she was having some
teeth problems, so she had a bunch of dental work done;
but had an infection that just wouldn't seem to heal. Finally
both of the veternarian ladies went to work on her, they
had to give her general anesthesia & everything. Good God!
I am SO very lucky Jen's mom is a friend of ours. We get
a "family" discount. They had to pull all of her teeth, except
the canines (in an effort to get rid of the cause of her pain)
It took both of them FIVE HOURS! And Kita was still having
pretty bad pain when we got back from the little vacation
in the Smoky Mtns (THANK GOD that Kim boarded her at
her own home for us, while we were gone - she made sure
that Kita did NOT suffer) While we were gone to the Smoky
Mtns, Miss Kita stayed at the vet's house...under her watchful
eye. On the day we got home, Kim brought Kita home too.
Kita still had a Fentanyl patch on .... LOTS of pain from that
nasty dental surgery. I was napping when Kim brought Kita
home ... I went looking under the bed & in her other spots.
(she usually hops up on the bed with me - however the
fentanyl had kicked her butt, she was way doped out. She
could never have navigated her way up onto the bed in
HER condition. So I found her near one of her favorite closets,
fairly zonked out. So, I just picked her up, curled her up next
to me in the bed & just cooed and rubbed & babied her. About
an hour later my youngest daughter called from Atlanta to
explain why she hadn't been able to make it to meet us in the
mountains, and we yakked on the phone at least an hour.
In the meantime, Patty went over to the bed to check on how
Miss Kita was doing and.... she was dead. Just like that!!
Kim did the autopsy that night. Kita had cancer so bad,
and spread throughout her lungs, her pericardium etc
So - it was no wonder that she couldn't get any better from
the dental & other infections. Anyway, ater a week of just
being so deeply depressed, crying my eyes out, feeling 100
percent completely sorry for myself, which is as it should be
....but such things have to come to an end sooner or later.
I'm sure there will be lots of tears ahead of me, and there
are already lots of them behind me. After about a week
of this languishing, lost, don't want to get out of my bed
depression .. I wandered out into my front yard. In our
neighborhood I've seen quite a few young kitties lately, all
about 8 weeks old or maybe a little older. I didn't know
what to do. I was so torn, that I ended up just sitting down
in my front yard (~ sniff~misty eyed Crying or Very sad ) and just
WAITING for one to pick ME out, and she did. Now we have
a new little girl named Snickers. I already took some cat
photos of Snickers asleep & more of Snickers sleeping, here
there, sleeping EVERYWHERE IN THE HOUSE. They're lucky
critters. Cats NEVER have insomnia. In my next life I
would like to come back as a cat, or at least a person who
sleeps like a cat!!
Well dear Rae I sure didn't ever mean to rain on your parade,
The kitty is beautiful and you've done a great job with the
photos.
As it turns out Snickers turns out to be a very independent
little baby, she eats hard food (good for kitty teeth) She
uses her litter box like a good girl and is SO affectionate.
I was SUCH A MESS!!! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
I didn't know what to do. I was so torn, that I ended up
just sitting down in my front yard (~ sniff~misty eyed Crying or Very sad )
waiting for one to pick me AND she did. Now her name is
Snickers. I've I already took some cat pix of Snickers asleep

Darned lucky critters. Cats NEVER have insomnia. In my
next life I desperately would like to be a cat, or at least to
sleep like a cat!!
*** I guess I'll have to post a kind of memorial service page
with some photos of Miss Kita.

Rae,
Lacey is a beauty! One of my favorite cats was my tuxedo, Garbo: Basic black, white mittens and the white bib and tum. Markings always remind me of an upside down skunk. Enjoy your new furry friend.

Babs,
I'm sorry for your loss of Kita. Snickers' arrival sounds like a happy stroke of luck. BTW every cat's companion was "chosen" by her/his cat; most people just don't know it. Very Happy

So sad, Babs. They can suffer so much and never say a word about it. It's as if they live entirely in the present, isn't it? Yesterday is gone, don't worry about tomorrow, and accept today.

Snickers is a great name for a cat. Was she feral? My Barney was till he decided to join me, and he has turned out to be the most affectionate of the three moochers I have running around the house.

So sorry to hear about Kita, babs. She was lucky to have you as her human though!

Hiya Stefan! Thanks for the compliment! Lacey wants to know when you're coming back.....because she misses your lap!

Thanks Montana!

You're right, Deb, Lacey does have an attitude ~ and she knows how to use it!

Thanks, nextone!

I just got royally chewed out by Miss Lacey.....I came home from work at noon and went straight to the pool for two hours.....It's been fifteen minutes and she's still meowing at me! Jeez!

Bad, bad human! Embarrassed

Hi there Rae! Lacey is soooo graceful Laughing Just like Nisse...

And yes - I added some pictures to my albums today - as you already saw.

And of course everybody else has to look at our kitties, too. Here is the link: Pictures of Nisse and Mysan.

You want more cat pictures? Here are my friend Nicole's cats: Cookie, Muffin, Schira

Have fun!
