To all the Aussies here, I hope you all enjoyed the Australia Day Long Weekend.
We were fortunate enough to have an extra couple of days either side to lengthen it even more.

After having a quick look here, I have just opened the Lovatts Big Feb 07 Book and about to make a dent in the Demon. ;-)

Many thanks Dutchy and tigiie for those Tip Sites. Apart from my trusty Shorter Oxford Dictionary and doing endless searches through Google, that is all I have at my fingertips here.

Those Web Sites will sure come in handy.

Regards

WOW! How do you ever finish a crossword? If I didnt have my handy sites there is no way I would ever finish them, and even then I still seem to need help Confused

Me too mrsgreen663

I would be lost without all of my favourite sites
to get answers for Lovatts.

I don't know how anyone managed before we got
the internet.

Even personal things, like school friends. I went
to school in PNG and everyone up there came from
all over the world but I still can e-mail them if I find
them on School Friends. I even found a photo of me
at school when I was 14 that someone had put up.
The internet is marvellous.

Best regards

Tigiie Very Happy

thanks Mrs Green and Dutchy. The only thing I could find for "Ghat" in reference to the Ganges was they were steps so I am interested where you found your info.

What was the clue? I dont have the book, just a copy of my crossword. If you give me the clue I will find out where I found the answer.
Although, Dutchy usually has the best references on the net

Hi Butain

The answer to your question is very simple. Using Google and looking for Varasi, you'll find that it is also known as 'Varanasi' (the more popular name). Searching further with Google for details about the town of Varanasi you will find several sites where the the answer to your clue is mentioned. Difficult questions always require a lot of searching and Google is the perfect medium for this.

I eventually found this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghats

Hope this helps.
Regards Dutchy.

Ok, yes the Ghats are the steps. That is where they burn the bodies, on the steps, so therefore the cremation platform they use. Here is a site that will explain and show you (dont worry there is nothing gory to see, just a few long distance pics).

mrsgreen663,
Until I came across able2know very rarely did my Crosswords get completed. I was always stuck on a couple towards the end.

On and off over the years, I use to do the Courier Mail and People (showing my age here now) bought People for the Crosswords not the actual Magazine. It was rubbish really. Dont know whether People Mag still exists.

Then the internet came along and I would Google and research things that way. A lot of guesswork too to make things fit. LOL
Probably why I have never won anything. :-)

No, nothing has come through here at all from you.

I have been online all day. In fact, working from my email inbox to catch up on the backlog from the week we have been away.

One thing I have noticed though is generally I get updates from the able2know Site about Posts, and they have not been coming through.

So if there is a feature with Able2Know that you have sent the email by, there would be a glitch for sure.

Hi EscapePod

No, I haven't used a2k to send my mail. Sent yours and Tigiie's at the same time and the latter got hers, as she replied to me.

You gave the address as [email protected] Is that correct? There seem to be something missing either. "au" or "net" or perhaps something else. Can you let me know? Thanks.

Regards Dutchy.
