There used to be, if I remember correctly - though I never used that so I'm not sure - but now I think if that is what you are interested in, you put an icon for that forum on your desktop, and then when you get to it, you individually check "get updates", or whatever the exact wording is, on the threads that attract you.

Alternately, you can go to your profile and check getting updates (they use some other wording for that) on all threads you've posted on. You probably knew that already.

A2k is being remodelled as we speak. I'm not sure if changes on this update business are under consideration.

You might look at the Forum Help forum, and post your interest in this on one of those threads that deal with the redesign of a2k.

Go to profile, top of the page and click.
Scroll down to where it says "Always notify of replies" and click yes box.

Scroll down to bottom of page and submit. You will then get all the threads you have subscribed to.

Yeah, its topic by topic - no provision to monitor an entire forum via eMail. However, if you assign a particular forum's index page to "Favorites" or "Bookmarks" in your browser, and if you retain A2K cookies, clicking the "Favorite" or "Bookmark" will bring you to the forum's index, and you will see posts and topics which have appeared since your last visit indicated by a colored icon.
