Before I give one of the properties, could you please show what thought you have put into this?

What ideas do you have and to what it could be?

I ran a search for this same problem... I have been working on this with my daughter for a week now and have no idea what follows. The best we could come up with it B, BX.

I'd go for a five- and a six-letter word starting with A.
I'd consider words that have letters in non-decreasing order.

like:

A, AX, ADD, AIMS. ACERS, ADEMPT

I don't think adempt is a word. Couldn't find it in my dictionary. How about addict?

I was able to locate adempt in a few on-line dictionaries but nothing in paper and ink format.

Oddly they all use the same wording:

Definition of Adempt
A`dempt´ Pronunciation: å`demt´; 215
p. p. 1. Taken away.
Without any sinister suspicion of anything being added or adempt.

My 3rd grader (FOCUS group) had the same sequencing question... We found 2 words that would work in each slot: adder, adopt... and accent, almost
no word used can go down a letter, it can repeat... but must be in alphabetical order otherwise. Teacher returned her paper using acers and adempt stating that they aren't words.
