I also wish to add 'my two cents worth' to lezzles post that the answer to the Bigcash(my 14d) should be trouper and not trooper.

The answer to the cluedoku is TORRID
To solve this puzzle you have to get the answer to the first clue which is modernist. Fill in the other answers as best you can, then fill in the rest of the grid by eliminating the letters that are already in the 9 squares by going up & down the grid.
