An avatar should be a dignified representation of your online persona. I don't mind the ones that are subtly humorous, or even a bit offensive. I have no problem, for instance, with the A2K member who wears bright red nail polish on his shooting hand.

However, all of these moving avatars annoy me. These jumping, waddling, flag waving spinning avatars are just too much.

They don't just represent the poster and stay of to the side for further reference. They insist on screaming for attention in my peripheral vision... it is kind of like a person at a party who insists on doing jumping jacks to get attention.

I just tried to read one thread with several moving avatars were having a heated argument (one post after another in quick succession). It was enough to give me a headache.

It is not only difficult to take a poster with a moving avatar seriously, it distracts from other more dignified posters around them.

How about sticking with static avatars. Does anyone else feel this way, or am I out of line?

Aw shut up yer stupid bawling baby!

Who cares what babies think anyhow?

The jokes on you all, I turned off gif animations and even dlowan's attempt to piss me off has been rendered as a very small motionless little bunny.

Since animations are turned off, the only avatar that is moving to me is Reyn's.

It's just that he changes it so often that it appears to be in perpetual motion. Laughing
