I understand you can take a filmless picture with a cell phone and then see the picture on a screen.

Is there a cheap filmless camera that can do that without having to buy a cell phone as part of it?

Sure - there all sortsa digital cameras out there, varying in price from a few dollars to many thousands of dollars. Naturally, more money generally equates to more features and better performance. A couple hundred bucks easilly will get you a digital camera with features and performance blowing away anything offered on a`cellphone (where the cameras trend strongly toward the "toy" end of the spectrum). Look for resolution of 5MP or greater, optical zoom of at least 3X, and both still and video recording capability. If you already have something that uses removable flash memory, you might wanna look for a camera which uses the same type, but thats not really a biggie for most folks.
