if cavewomen picked smarter cavemen to mate with, in order to pass that intelligence on to their children, wouldn't that intelligence have been passed on to both males and females?

who wrote the tests that prove this? men or women?

You're onto somethin' there Chai.

Give women a couple hundred more years sitting beside us designing the tests, and the tests may measure intelligence in a less male skewed way.

(Maybe "finding things in the pantry" should be part of the test....I'm only capable of having a "boy look" as my wife puts it. Any actual finding has to be done by her.)

If anybody ever wanted proof that boys and girls are different, one only has to watch young children playing with toy cars. Watching my son and daughter as well as their myriad cousins, friends, and classmates, one thing is unmistakably obvious:

All little boys make motor noises.
As a general rule, little girls don't.

This is entirely down to nurture.

Parents will subconsciously and consciously, assign and re-enforce gender stereotypes, as will peers/advertising/T.V./schools etc...

Sorry but thats patently absurd flushie. You might as well say its out of date social labelling to divide human beings into "men" and "women". There are differences at every level from dna to facial hair. And there are similar differences between humans that allow division into racial groups. (Thats not to say there aren't variations within a group that can be wider than variations between groups. But that there are identifiable groups which we call races is a given).

Yep, quite agree.

Mind you, with all the PC stuff and the modern trend of never allowing kids to do anything that may cause bruises, I think we risk ending up with a gender neutral society, eventually.

I'm not sure whether that would make society any better, myself.

I'm not saying I want a society that's gender nuetral...

There are differences between the sexes - but not where intellegence is concerned!

I agreed with you. I didn't mention anything about intelligence. We were discussing basic behaviour, as quoted.

Personally, I think that women rule the modern day, civilised world. They just let the men THINK that they are in charge.

"Does anybody have any Mensa stats broken down by gender?"

The most intelligent person I know who resides on the site is "satanta" (and a few others)....BUT...4 da time bein' - I am here.

I have never had my IQ measured...

One of my friends had 165 IQ points but whilst we had an intellectual conversation we both pointed out to each other -

IQ is relative...

I BELIEVE that the most important thing in order to keep active mind is to keep an active body. I sometimes SLACK - but in that RESPECT for the intelligence behind the thread.

Mens got bigger eds too and bigger brains. Results from MRI tests show 0.4 IQ/brain weight correlation.

But they need bigger brains, to accommodate their bigger egos...

And, in my experience, it takes at least a third of their brains TO WASH UP!

You should know, bigger does not mean better. The brain is more complex than that.

jus' working out how to use this site [he he]... comp probs - but still here...

As I tried to say a second ago, intelligence is a relative issue, and very much based on personal experience. I had a conversation with somebody concerning perspective the other day...

We disagreed but we're still on eachothers side...

I tend to come back to this site when I am in a more serious mood. Laughing

I hope people realise I have a [ Twisted Evil - side]...

But I was try to be Cool
