Talk about a lousy reason to suddenly become a poacher.

I'm not surprised by the blank stares.

Very sad. This is what happens when humans impose human values on other species. We expect a sting ray to have human feelings and values. That's preposterous. In nature there are no good guys or bad guys.

Is there a good reason to become a poacher?

That said, I agree that this is stupid.

before you complain about the slaughter of an animal better check with your Uncle ted and see whether or not he approves... I figured this would be right up your alley....

I would expect that sort of story in "The Onion".

I have my doubts as to the veracity of said story.

That story's been on other venues, too, Gus, not just the link that was provided by cjhsa. Irwin's friends and supporters have expressed horror at this so-called revenge.

Not all humans do stupid, ignorant things like that, shewolf. Steve Irwin's manager (& friend) was on national radio this morning almost pleading that this sort of nonsense cease immediately. He pointed out that Irwin himself would be appalled at what had been done.

It's not just animals that get victimised by people who do a fairly good impersonation of Homo Sapien.

When we had a particularly nasty child abduction and murder several years ago, a massive backlash took place, aimed at anyone who was even suspected of being a paedophile.

Several homes were smashed up, including a Doctor's house.

The reason for the mobs rage against him? He had a plaque on his wall, stating he was a paediatrician.

Well, it DID have the magic leters "paed" at the beginning, I suppose.

"There's none so queer as folk", as my Nan used to say.

I know it isn't every one .

But, all it takes is one sour apple, and the whole pie tastes bad.

This small group of idiots, full of oddly perceived personal power just make me sick. It makes me wish I had supernatural powers so I could create a world just for animals, where there is not a single human to be found.

Yeah, I know, shewolf. <sigh>

I can never exactly get the folk (usually blokes) who derive huge pleasure from killing defenceless animals, either. They make me sick, too.
Taking revenge on stingrays? Oh, please! Moronic!

I love animals, they're delicious.

But "revenge" against a species for the death of an animal harasser is silly.

Jeez...this is just incredible.

So these people looooved Irwin so much that they MUST have revenge ( Rolling Eyes )-- and yet they have so little regard for him that they don't realize he would think this was completely awful?

What kind of idiots would derive satisfaction from this?
