GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip ?- Palestinian officials hope to have "good news" about two kidnapped FOX News journalists within two days, the spokesman for the Hamas government said Saturday.

The journalists, cameraman Olaf Wiig of New Zealand, and correspondent Steve Centanni, were seized in Gaza City on Aug. 14. Their captors, from a previously unknown group, demanded the release of all Muslims imprisoned by the U.S. by Saturday, in exchange for freeing the FOX journalists.

On Friday, the Palestinian interior minister suggested some progress has been made in winning the release of the hostages.

Ghazi Hamad, the government spokesman, added Saturday: "I hope that we can hear good news within the coming two days."

Hamad did not explain on what this assessment was based.
