Unfortunately, I have been around death more than I care to think
about. I don't think anything you say really helps the person in that
time of crisis. But, I do know that just letting them know you care and
are there for them helps at least a little. And I do know from experience that saying nothing just adds to the hurt they are already feeling.
Telling them you care doesn't take the pain away, nothing will, the only thing that seems to help at all is time and that is not something you or anyone else can give someone but acknowledging the fact that you care can go a long way. I hope I am making sense and I don't want to offend anyone that already knows this. So, please don't anyone take offense.
