I have the impression that able2know is either Australian or
American and I'm curious.
Bye
Alan
able2Know started on my computer in Brazil at Rua Bartolomeu de Gusmao 77 Apartamento 3. I had it running on a server on an ISP I owned.
Next it was moved to lycos in the United Kingdom.
I believe Lycos moved it's datacenter to France for a bit but don't remember.
After that it was moved to a datacenter in California.
When that datacenter no longer could handle the traffic it was moved to a datacenter in San Antonio. We recently moved the site again to a new server that is also located in San Antonio (because of the absence of natural disasters in the area).
So right nowthe site is served from a server in San Antonio but it's backup files are in my pocket. I carry the backup files to the site on my 20GB mp3 player and on my laptop,
He he,I know that's more information than you are looking for but the bottom line is that the site's server is located in the US and the site's owner started the site on Brazil and has since moved to the US.
The membership has lots of Aussies and Americans as well as Canadians and Brits.
But there are many other nationalities represented, we get a few hundred thousands hist a month from China for e.g.
Good morning Alan and good morning Craven. Have you had your coffee yet?
good morning to you too
As I only found this site yesterday, I got up early (like a kid with a new toy) and brought a bowl of muesli upstairs with me.
It is Bank holiday Monday here in London- yes another one- and the sun
is shining.
If you don't mind me asking, What is the "quote" box next to the "reply" box and how do I get to my own postbox? I know I must have found it to send this to you but I do not know how I found it! It must be too early
in the morning.

The quote button quotes the text of the post from which you press the button. Like you see above.
It does this by using
BBCode.
I don't understand the other question.
By "post box" do you mean a space for composing a reply?
If so, there is a quick reply box at the end of every existing message topic. It doesn't have any of the fancy bells and whistles such as emoticons, font formatting. There is a more extensive box for composing posts which you can access by clicking Preview under the quick reply and then apply editing, or you can click on the "post reply" button at the end of the topic listing or the "reply" button located within each individual post.
Yo, Alan, welcome, I'm in Manchester.
There is a proposed London meeting of a few members soon; informal, etc. Will bring you the link if no-one else does first.
McT
Here it is.
Have a read through.
We also had a 1st London meeting, which was very good.

Alan- Welcome to Able2Know. We DO have a lot of bells and whistles here, but they are intuitive, and before long, you will have them all figured out.
If you go to the "Forums" page, you will see "Forum Help". There are many tutorials that will aquaint you with the technical aspects of the site. Of course, if you have any problems, feel free to ask one of the Moderators or Specialists. We are a friendly bunch here. Enjoy!
No!!!! Run!!! Before it's too late!
thank you Craven
Thanks Craven.
Second question. I probably mean my inbox, my own posts.
Sincerely
Alan
Hello
Nice to hear from you McTag
Alan
Thanks
Thanks for the welcome.
Hope you had a good weekend
Alan
G'day to you too
Aussies witty? Certainly the friendliest people in the world.
Us Brits are too stuffy, but I was never one of those.
This site knocks those type of cobwebs away, good thing too!
Sincerely Alan
Hey Margo,
Wrong thread, but I lived in a Norwegian summer house once, a hutte.
We caught trout in the lake from the little rowing boat, and fried them up.
It was marvellous.
The scandinavians are really sorted. They love their short summertime.
(I'll put this on the other thread.)
Sorry we can't meet this trip, will synchronise diaries next time.

There's also some Kiwis here - you know - that place just south east of that island with the kangaroos and koalas that keeps blocking our view.
Never Heard of It!
Of course I have, one of those beautiful countries which I imagine
i will never go to because it's too far.
Good morning from London, it's promising to be a lovely day.
Alan
Jeez Alan
It's just as far from here to there as it is from there to here. And from there to here it's downhill all the way! There's some great airfares around at present! Try to make the London meet on the 11th.
Top o' the mornin', from Sydney!
