To Build or not to Build?

In the story of Noah we find a type or example of everything that is in the Holy Scripture. Now, many have come to the conclusion that works cannot lead to salvation. If this is the case:

Is the ark necessary for Noah's salvation ? If not why?

Would Noah have still been saved without the building of the ark ? If so, how?

Who saved Noah, God or Noah?


If able, please present Bible verses to validate your positions.
