International atomic energy agency reports that radiation background in the area surrounding Pirallahi Adasi (Azerbaijan) of the Caspian Sea has increased considerably over the past year. Basically, there are no sources of radiation in this region that are known to IAEA, and no nuclear power stations were built there because of high seismological hazard.

Still, there IS some source of radiation and it must be associated with a new US military base that is under construction on Pirallahi Adasi. It is known that Washington and Baku have reached an agreement according to which US obtains a permit to install a military base there. So it turns out that radiation background has risen thanks to Americans who perhaps use this new base to store unconventional nuclear mini-nukes that will be used to attack Iran!

As far as I understand, Azerbaijani authorities don't give a damn for what Americans are doing there and what types of weapon they have there. Anyway, this sounds like being of some interest for Greenpeace as storage of nuclear weapons is not non-hazardous for the environment. Beside, as soon as the war breaks out, Iran will surely try to destroy this base with its long-rang cruise missiles and this means serious radioactive pollution of the whole Caspian water area which certainly affects all countries that have their borders along the Caspian Sea shore.
