Hmmm - well, I was a desperately serious and sombre little girl - with very good reason - and I am not so now - though, of course, elements of that remain and inform the humour - as all humour is fed by seriousness, I think.

I am just as over-sensitive and full of wonder and stroppy as ever, though.....oh well.

I think we CAN change - though not usually enormously - although some do.

I'm the same as I always was, only more so in some ways and less so in others.

"The child is the father of the man"

"Show me a child of seven and I'll show you the man"

My innate nature is the same now as it was then. I'm more understanding of the world, myself and others. That's maturity and wisdom, which you can't start with.

Hey, all. Sorry that I didn't post sooner. For some reason, I had to log in again and get a new password Shocked

Roberta, Deb, WilliamHenry, Pete, Then all of us agree that we are now, basically, who we were then, with modifications for the better. There have been so many studies done to determine which has more influence on our development, nature or nurture. The only study that I have ever read that seemed truly controlled was the case of identical twins separated at birth, and raised in totally different environments.

In the interim, we must teach these people who can't dance (or won't) a new step or two. Smile

What I Like About You
By: The Romantics
Hey, uh huh huh
Hey, uh huh huh

What I like about you, you hold me tight
Tell me I'm the only one, wanna come over tonight, yeah

You're whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna to hear, 'cause that's true
That's what I like about you

What I like about you, you really know how to dance
When you go up, down, jump around, think about true romance, yeah

You're whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna to hear, 'cause that's true
That's what I like about you
That's what I like about you
That's what I like about you

Wahh!

Hey!

What I like about you, you keep me warm at night
Never wanna' let you go, know you make me feel alright, yeah

You're whispering in my ear
Tell me all the things that I wanna to hear, 'cause that's true
That's what I like about you
That's what I like about you
That's what I like about you
That's what I like about you (whispered)
That's what I like about you (whispered)
That's what I like about you (whispered)
That's what I like about you (whispered)

Hey, uh huh huh, hey hey hey
Hey, uh huh huh, brrr
Hey, uh huh huh, hey

If one converts ballet into rap it becomes Flash dancing.

(throws corsage on floor--grinds petals to pulp--leaves prom in a huff)

Nah, I always had too much fun at the proms. Cool

This is one of those discussions on "then is now." What's now is the same as our past, so our past has no meaning. Uh, oh, I'm stepping into this one like quicksand..... HELP! c.i.

Hi there, Miss Letty!

Hopefully I haven't misunderstood the topic.....

I have an aunt (my godmother) who insists that people don't change. I have disagreed with that my entire life.

I'm not the same person I was four years ago. And I've 'buried' the person I was growing up. The memories are there, but 'she' doesn't exist anymore.

*sigh*

Somethings will never change, like a need to love and be loved. Actually I can't concentrate at the moment due to this song that plays- The Fairest of the Seasons

in part:
"I want to know do I stay or do I go
And do I have to do just one
And can I choose again if I should lose the reason ?

Yes, and the morning
Has me looking in your eyes
And seeing mine warning me
To read the signs more carefully."

It's my life's soundtrack now and i suppose it always was.
well that's all for now! i'm new so still testing the waters Very Happy

I was a young boy who was frustrated to the point of tears by his stepfather, a man with whom he had nothing in common.

I am my stepfather.

Hello there, Letty!

The difference between now & then? Hmmmm, let me think a minute ...

I sincerely hope I have become a wiser, kinder & more understanding & compassionate person as a result of *experience* ... I was something of a princess in my younger days, somewhat precious! Embarrassed
Nothing like the experience of LIFE to make you a nicer human being!

And just exactly when and at what age does one turn into their mother or father.

It happens to everyone no matter what; but is there a certain age when the words of your parent's actually come out of your mouth like they have been hiding in your brain just waiting for the right opportunity.

And the shock leaves you in a state of confusion and wonder. How did it happen that you could actually verbalize the things that used to make you crazy when you heard them from your parent's?
